Access Cards for City Compost Site
City of Monticello residents will need an access card to enter the compost site on West River Street.
Please fill out the request form and email it back to Public Works at public.works@ci.monticello.mn.us. Staff will contact you via email to let you know when you can pick up your card. Cards must be picked up at the City Hall front desk, they are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
If your card is lost, please contact Public Works for a replacement card. Replacement cards are $10.
Site Hours
The compost site is available from sun rise to dusk. This is a residential area, so we ask for consideration of no early morning and late-night drop offs.
The access card will allow residents into the site April through November. The site is under 24-hour surveillance with security cameras.
Compost Available
There are 2 bins of compost available for residents - one has wood chips and the other has composted material mainly used for gardens or to fill in spots in your yard.
We do not have black dirt, but the composted material will help your yard or garden grow. You are welcome to check on the availability by visiting the Monticello Maintenance Building, located at:
909 Golf Course Road
Monticello, MN 55362
Please come after hours so trucks entering and exiting the facility will not be in your way. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Request Service
If you need help, please fill out the Public Work's Request Service Form.
