Wellhead Protection prevents drinking water from becoming polluted. The program manages potential sources of contamination in the area that supplies water to a public well. Public health is protected and the expense of treating polluted water or drilling new wells is avoided through wellhead protection efforts.
The City of Monticello has developed a Wellhead Protection Plan in accordance with Minnesota Wellhead Protection Rule, Minnesota Rules, Parts 4720.5100 to 4720.5590.
